Gotta Find Something to Laugh About

Here at the end of the week, I am exhausted. There was that 5 a.m. work day at the polls, and college exam prep when I was quizzing Dorito for two late nights in a row. There were also two scheduling nightmares with KCYC and AGD to endure resolve. Plus Captain's sister is nearing the end of her battle with cancer, and he is helping arrange flights for Kathy and Rachel to get to Alaska on time. But I also want to list the good things in my week such as Captain substituting my Adoration Hour. And a victory over "Goliath" in the Suzuki Parent Fund battle. The boys have each memorized a concerto through consistent violin practice at home. And I found three pennies on the ground in the past two weeks reminding me that "In God We Trust."
This afternoon, I played cards with the "old ladies" at Vintage Gardens, and we had lots of laughs. Imagine these kind ladies playing cut-throat at "Hearts" over tea and cakes?! TGIF!

I found a nickel in the lobby of the gas station.  Meggar is trying to collect all the quarters she can find in my purse and the cup holders of the car to take back for her laundry. :-)

Although it almost kills us to get to violin lessons on time, the reward for me is sitting quietly and reading the newspaper.  Our teacher's studio is at the college, where the local papers are provided free for students and visitors like me.  So at least I know the Wednesday news, which isn't much in the News Press.  But I feel slightly more adult and sometimes more informed. Today, I also picked up two pennies beside the newsstand!

I have not been putting all the discoveries here on my blog, but it is fun when I remember to write about them.  Here are the latest two:  Yesterday, there was a Lincoln head penny in the floor tile at the center of the Museum (shown).  Today I found a dime, a nickel, and a penny in the hotel/restaurant parking lot.  They were lying along the curb with the leaves and trash as if they had blown there.  It always reminds me to think about "In God We Trust."

Winger had the luck this time. He found a $10 bill at a strip mall parking lot in Omaha last weekend. He and Polar Bear were goofing around so I let them run ahead to the next store. He found it against a pillar, and no one was around to return it to. He promptly went in TJ Maxx and bought a wallet. Leather one, like Dad's.

I found two pennies today en route to the hockey tournaments. I'm also lucky that Uncle Tony and Aunt Mary are letting me borrow their mini-van for Dorito's games--now I have room to take cousins Ethan and Alyssa along! The twins and Captain are going to play hockey in Mankato, which is two hours away.

Today, I found a nickel on the sidewalk as I went to buy the Sunday paper. It reminds me "In God We Trust" like always. So glad that Meggar is home safe and sound. She brought us a coin from the Lourdes Grotto, too.

Another lucky break! While I was walking in the college gym (the boys had PE class), I found a nickel under the bleachers. And later I found a dime in the parking lot! That's like saying "In God We Trust" 15 times today.

Captain found a penny today - in Canada - on the floor of the elevator. He picked it up (of course) and brought it home for me (of course). But I gave it to Dorito (of course), who collects coins. My "weekly luck" continues to hold...

I found a penny in the parking lot during hockey try-outs. Of course, the twins don't need luck to make the Saints travel teams. They will play both Pee Wee and Squirts this year. Captain teased them that they would each have to score 2-3 goals per game.
