End of Volleyball

Did I mention that we are relieved volleyball is over??! The Knights finished 3rd in the league tournament last Saturday--in the midst of a busy Halloween weekend. Happily, they won their final match. Meggar had all good serves, a couple of blocks, and high intensity/hustle! Good friends like Kendra and Caitlin, who sat in the hot tub until midnight, made Meggar's final games more enjoyable.

Senior Night at Knights Volleyball

The Knights Volleyball team celebrated its seniors at their final home game. Each girl was introduced with her parents (Captain arrived too late). Meggar had a good start in volleyball back in 6th grade with Coach Huss at St. James. Now, #4 gets all her serves over and covers all the rotations. We are proud of her long-term dedication to this sport. Meggar's speech was the Best!

Then, they each received yellow roses from Coach Joyce. Wife brought the balloons and signs to decorate the gym. After our final victory, the Schmidlings skipped the chili supper because we had dinner reservations at the fancy French Restaurant in nearby Parkville. Cafe des Amis is owned by a French chef from Champagne, and it was a delicieux chance to honor our eldest in style.

Varsity Volleyball

I should have blogged about Knights Volleyball by now. We are half-way through the season, and Meggar is one of four seniors on the team. They are winning about half their matches, but they are an inexperienced bunch and can benefit greatly from Joyce's coaching. Meggar loves blocking and spiking. Plus driving herself to practice, giving rides to Kendra and Kaitlin, and bringing M&Ms to share. And her iPod speakers for their warm-up time.

Meggar and her team take the court in the Maryville tournament. It was nice to talk to Tony and Ashley there, too.

Volleyball Update

Meggar's team finally won a match last weekend--sorry I wasn't there to see it. Captain made it to some of the Saturday and Sunday games of the Silver Heart Challenge in Kansas City. I'm glad she is keeping a good attitude.

Volleyball Try-outs

The thrills and disappointments of club volleyball try-outs consumed Meggar's weekend. Not to mention sore muscles. She was (happily) recruited for the 17s team with St. Joe Spike.
