For Catholics, November 1 is a holy day of obligation. It is wonderful time to celebrate the Communion of Saints: St. Francis of Assisi, St. John the Baptist, Sts. Benedict & Scholastica, St. Catherine of Alexandria, Pope St. Leo the Great, and Bl. Mother Teresa are among our favorites. For European Catholics, it is a bank holiday and Fabian says he has a week off from school! But for American high school seniors, November 1 is the early deadline for college applications, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and college essays. Although Dorito is applying to fewer colleges than Meggar did, it still was a daunting task in a very busy week.
(Wife is driving to Chicago this afternoon for a very early hockey game tomorrow.)
