We had a fun meeting last night, but everyone missed Jenny. This was our second book about the artist Vermeer: "The Girl in Hyacinth Blue" written by Susan Vreeland. The food was amazingly correlated to the Dutch-through-WWII storyline: Theresa brought hutspot (Dutch stew of sweet potatoes, white potatoes, onions and carrots), Connie brought German sausage and mashed potatoes, Cynthia brought Speculaas cookies, Theresa also made Stroopwafel cookies. I made Dutch cookies off a historic website that my friend Marlies in Amsterdam recommended. And Laura brought Eccles Cakes from the Brits store. Such treats!

Book Club Looks at Vermeer (Again)

Next time I’m have to be there! Don’t want to miss out on these delicious dishes!
And you would love to see the real painting – to genuinely lose your thoughts!
Love
Marlies
