Today is the "birthday into heaven" of Saint John Vianney, the French pastor from Ars. He also was chosen by Pope Benedict as the model for this "Year of the Priest." My family was able to complete the requirements for the Plenary Indulgence, as my boys are serving at weekday mass all this week. What a joy to be able to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his death and pray for the holy work of priests in America, France, and around the world.It is also the birthday of President Barack Obama, whose conversion remains in our prayers.
