Apple Blossom Air Show

In keeping with the 150th Anniversary of the Pony Express, our city is planning a special "Speed of Sound Air Show" along with this weekend's Apple Blossom Parade. Our family is all about air shows, especially when they involve the airport where our Captain flies from. And better than that, the Blue Angels are coming today! Dorito wanted to leave at 7:00 a.m. because the gates open at 9:00. "But the air show doesn't start until noon," I pleaded with him unsuccessfully. We packed chairs, sunscreen, and Lucas and headed to the airport. Our special pass allowed us parking in the Herzog lot, right next to the ramp. (Why do they call it a ramp if it's flat?!) The weather was sunny, the drink cooler was full, and the stunts did not disappoint. The twins took these pictures--they were so excited with each new display throughout the day. The trip home was also unbelievable! Our vehicle didn't even creep forward for 95 minutes. The huge crowds must have overwhelmed the organizers. So my boys played frisbee and created silly games in the grass along the roadside with Zachary and Alexander. Captain arrived back in time to host a BBQ at the Herzog Hangar for the show pilots and their crews. He will come back tomorrow to watch the 20 demonstrations.
